About

Matt is a filmmaker from Toronto who lives and works in LA. He makes weird and emotional comedies that hopefully make you laugh, cry, and cringe at the same time.

His short film KILLER screened at the Sundance Film Festival and won awards at the Seattle International Film Festival, IFFBoston, Sarasota Film Festival, and Lower East Side Film Festival. It also received a Vimeo Staff Pick and was featured on Short of the Week and NoBudge. He’s currently developing a feature based on it, and participated in the 2023 TIFF Filmmaker Lab with the project.

Recently, his short film DONKEY won awards at the Seattle International Film Festival and Lower East Side Film Festival. It also received a Vimeo Staff Pick, was featured on Short of the Week, and written about in Vulture.

His short film FATHER FIGURINE was featured on Short of the Week, NoBudge, Director’s Notes and Film Shortage. His shorts HASTA LA VISTA and TIGHT SPOT are also Vimeo Staff Picks, and his short FLAGPOLE was a Finalist for the Student Academy Awards.

As a director, he has worked on shows and sketches for MTV, CollegeHumor, Snapchat, and Refinery29. He has also directed commercials and branded content for REI, Postmates, Amazon, Toyota, Cox Cable, Sephora, Intel, and many others.

He feels conflicted about self-promotion, but hopes you enjoy his work and also his face.
